Ripperton Racing Wins Opening Round of Australian TTXGP

ripperton_racingThe Australian portion of the TTXGP kicked off this weekend and the Ripperton Racing team walked away with the win.

There were only three bikes on the grid at the Eastern Creek Raceway, the Ripperton Racing team, the Catavolt team, and Voltron.

Ripperton’s R1 was the fastest in both races, posting a 2’11.495 and a 2’07.787 time at the event.

Catavolt and Voltron both experienced some major problems during the opening round, which limited the competition.

“We tried a number of techniques to rectify the problem however we did not have enough time to bring the cell up to the correct voltage for the race,” said Jon Eggenhuizen of the Catavolt team.

The Catavolt team experienced more trouble when rider Jason Morris crashed his supermoto bike before Sunday’s race. Without a rider, the Catavolt team grabbed Formula Oz class rider Amy O’Mara to fill in.

“Amy did a great job of riding the bike” Eggenhuizen said. “Especially for her first time on an electric machine. We will be faster next time.”

The Voltron team also experienced a hectic weekend. Engine problems plagued the Voltron team, which was only able to finish one race. The Voltron team was happy, however, that they were able to bring their machine to 95 mph down the stretch.
