The 7th round of the Hare & Hound series was scheduled for May 8th in Nightingale, Nevada. But the Bureau of Land Management has refused to grant a permit for the race. For the time being, round 7 of the AMA Racing/Kenda Hare & Hound National Championship Series should be considered cancelled.
According to a brief statement released by the AMA, the BLM has initiated several new requirements that need to be fulfilled to host a race. The major obstacle is apparently a migratory bird survey for the area.
The race promoters said that they expect a permit to be granted eventually, but unfortunately it will be after the scheduled May 8th race.
No word yet on how the cancelled event will be handled. It sounds like the event in Nightingale could be scheduled at a later date.
An official release detailing the situation is expected tomorrow.
