The Grand National Cross Country series resumes this weekend at Loretta Lynn’s in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, and only two points separate the current points leader Charlie Mullins from the 2010 defending champion Josh Strang.
Mullins and Strang have been swapping the points lead ever since North Carolina, but Mullins has the advantage going into round five.
The battle for third is also a close race as Paul Whibley and Cory Buttrick are only separated by a point. Whibley took a win at round two of the GNCC, but he hasn’t been the most consistent rider on the track.
In the XC2 division, Steward Baylor holds a four point lead over Jason Thomas. The XC2 division has seen three different riders on top of the podium during the four races so far, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a rider like Andrew DeLong take the win this weekend.
The Loretta Lynn race is one of the most historical of the GNCC series. The woody trail shoots over hills and dips down into valleys, crossing slippery rocks and mud pits along the way.
