Over the last couple of years, the TTXGP has been the premier place to showcase the latest in electric motorcycle technology. Teams from around the world compete in the event, and the fan base is slowly building. The TTXGP took another big step today, as the FIM has officially sanctioned the racing series.
FIM North America, a continental union of the FIM, has just sanctioned the TTXGP North American Championship. The American Motorcycle Association, a member federation of the FIM, will issue the sanction.
Electric motorcycles have slowly been gaining popularity, and with the TTXGP getting an official sanction, electric motorcycles take one more step toward being mainstream modes of transportation.
"We feel this is a fantastic step in the acceptance of zero-carbon motorsport, and we recognize the dedication and professionalism of all the participants, tracks and partners that make TTXGP what it is today," said Azhar Hussain, CEO and founder of the TTXGP. "We are pleased to be working with FIM North America and its member federation in the United States, the AMA. The AMA is a fantastic partner for the TTXGP. Not only is the AMA a large and respected sanctioning body, but it is also the leader in representing motorcyclists across America.
“As we ride into the next generation of motorsport, the AMA will prove to be the catalyst for us to properly engage local, state and federal governments, international governing organizations and the court of public opinion."
The TTXGP is an exciting racing series, but it is also the driving force behind much of the technology for electric motorcycles. As the technology gets better, so does the racing.
AMA Director of Racing Joe Bromley added that the TTXGP adds a unique element to the motorcycle racing landscape.
"TTXGP is an innovative race series," said Joe Bromley, the AMA Director or Racing. "We're eager to work with the organizers and race teams that are leading the development of electric-powered competition motorcycles. The TTXGP North American Championship will showcase technology that will potentially play a significant role in the future of racing."
The first round of the TTXGP will coincide with the next AMA Pro Racing event. The TTXGP will kick off at the Infineon Raceway in California on May 14th.
