The Latest Accessories in AMA Superbike

With light bikes and constantly changing competition, the AMA Superbike racing circuit is ground zero for innovation in light bikes. The combination of light bikes and powerful engines makes for exciting races as well as exciting advances in racing technology. All five major brands that compete in the AMA Superbike racing circuit make not only bikes, but riding accessories like helmets, gloves, pants, and jackets which cost a pretty penny but will make sure that the rider is as safe and comfortable as possible.
In 2002, 2003 and 2005, famed AMA Superbiker Casey Stoner rode Aprilia superbikes, models RS250, RS125, and RSA250. Aprilia is one of the seven brands owned by Piaggio, and started off manufacturing scooters. However, in recent years, they have become synonymous with top of the line racing bikes. Aprilia superbikes have seen their greatest success in the smaller classes. While Aprilia’s larger bikes (like the legendary RS3 “Cube”) have contributed to huge advances in the manufacture and technology of racing bikes, they have not had outstanding race performance. The lighter RS250, RS125, and RSA250 bikes paved the way for Casey Stoner’s success, and their new RSV4 will certainly lead to some exciting moments on the AMA Superbike track in 2009.
Yamaha is also bringing out some new accessories and technology for the 2009 AMA Superbike racing calendar. Team Yamaha will ride the YZ450F motorcycle. Its frame has been altered to enhance the stability of the bike’s base and make it road-ready with minimum tweaking.
Suzuki is fielding one of the top racers in AMA Superbike, Matthew Mladin. Earlier this month, team Suzuki took their 50th consecutive AMA Superbike win. The team uses the Suzuki Rockstar GSX-R1000, which has been ridden by successful riders like Ben Spies and Matthew Mladin. The 4 cylinder four stroke engine cranks out a huge amount of power while its compact design and short wheelbase give it maximum control in motorcycle races where high RPMs are a given. While the competition between Spies and Mladin continues, their even footing with the superb Suzuki Rockstar GSX-R1000 will make it a true test of skill rather than equipment.
Team Buell is planning on using their 1125R motorcycle in this year’s AMA Superbike racing circuit. Buell has designed the 1125R to have excellent, intuitive handling and predictable power. Buell’s 1125R kicks out 146 horsepower in a very light frame, which will help drive their riders to AMA Superbike success. The DOHC V-Twin engine is compact and light, further reducing the overall weight of the 1125R.
All of these new and exciting motorcycles and accessories will be on display in the AMA Superbike racing circuit in 2009. The real question is who will make the most out of their new technology.
