The Australian Superbike Championship Continues with Viking Group Hot

Viking Group / Australian Superbike Championship logoMotorcycle racing fans the world over know of the brilliant riders who were born and raised on the continent-nation of Australia. Troy Bayliss, Mat Mladin, Casey Stoner and Troy Corser are but a few examples of the exemplary riding talent the world stage has witnessed in recent years – that list is very long indeed. The Australian Superbike Championship is one path often taken by these athletes on their way to global recognition. Recent seasons of the series have gone well under the auspices of Motorcycling Australia, governing body and FIM affiliate, and promoter International Entertainment Group (IEG). Viking Group has been right there with them; first as a logistics partner in 2009 (through a subsidiary) and then as naming rights sponsor for 2010. Now the relationship will continue for yet another full season of exciting motorcycle competition.

Viking Group will continue to support the Australian Superbike Championship for 2011and will assist in the ongoing expansion of the racing series. This season brought fans some noteworthy changes by adding a new event in the Northern Territory (Hidden Valley Raceway) and bringing back the popular “2 + 4” events where the bikes and V8 Supercars share the track for a weekend full of exceedingly fast entertainment. The television coverage increase alone has done wonders for Australian motorcycle road racing. This next season is expected to build upon this momentum in order to further improve the product, gain support for the riders and expand the grid.

The final round of the 2010 season is to be held at Tasmania’s Symmons Plains circuit during 12 – 14 November. This is a 2 + 4 event, so the V8 Supercars series will be competing on the same track, not simultaneously, of course. It’s an incredible value, two championships at once, and nothing could be more fun for fans of either sport. The Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship will be back in February 2011 alongside the FIM World Superbikes – note your calendar or set up a reminder. For more: http://www.asbk.com.au/
