FIM Offers Incentive to Join e-Power Racing

As the sport of electric motorcycle racing continues to shape, TTXGP and the FIM e-power International Championship are battling over who will hold the premiere racing event.

FIM is now offering cash incentives for riders to enter into the e-Power International Championship instead of the TTXGP series. The incentive is for 5000 Euros.

FIM has the e-Power International Championship races scheduled before many of FIM’s biggest events, including the FIM World Championship Endurance race in France and Spain, as well as the FIM World Championship Superbike in Italy, and the FIM World Championship Grand Prix.

FIM says that the incentive is to encourage participation in the sport of e-motorcycle racing. Some people, however, see it as a deliberate attempt to damage the TTXGP.

I’m not sure if the FIM incentive is an attempt to damage the TTXGP, but it does seem like it will do more harm to the sport than good.

TTXGP had this to say when FIM announced it would be starting its own e-racing series a few months ago: "FIM's unilateral decision means that our energies are divided and the force diluted. The real victim will be the consumer and the industry which demands change to embrace a valuable opportunity. FIM appears to have no vision which will assist its own industry."
