Fans of AMA Flat Track will no longer have to go to Municipal Stadium to enjoy the sliding action during Daytona Bike Week.
New for this year is a quarter-mile dirt track at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Construction began in October on the lime rock surfaced track located in the West Lot outside of turns 1 and 2 during October. And DIS fans will have an up-close look due to the 5,000 seats before the front stretch and turns 1 and 4.
“We’re excited about the addition of this new venue to our historic racing facility,” said Track President Robin Braig. “The new dirt track is going to take the excitement of our popular Flat Track motorcycle races to a new level and give us additional opportunities to host other event during the year.”
Flat track racing during “Daytona 200 Week by Honda” will be on the evenings of Wednesday and Thursday, March 3-4. Daytona Week is also highlighted by the historic Daytona 200 by Honda AMA Pro Racing event on Friday night, March 5, and the Daytona Supercross by Honda on Saturday night, March 6.
Tickets are on sale through DIS. For more information, go to Daytona’s Web site.
