Day two and three didn’t go as planned for last year's winner, Marc Coma. After suffering a 22-minute penalty on day two, and riding with a moody engine on day three, Marc Coma makes up some time as he enters into Chile.
Coma came in with the best time of the day, claiming his first stage victory of 2010, and his ninth overall. He moves up three places in the overall standings to sixth place, but is still 38’50’’ behind the leader, Cyril Despres.
"We got our good habits back and we got back on the right track" says Coma. "I am very happy to be here. It’s good for the moral of the team after a few bad days."
Despres and David Casteu remain in the top-two spots for the fourth straight day, but they are not about to get comfortable. With the top 10 riders all within an hour of each other, and the start of the Atacama Desert, anything can and will happen.
Helder Rodrigues, Luca Manca, and Alain Duclos fill in the third-, fourth- and fifth-place spots. Jonah Street, of the USA, came in 15th for the day, 13 minutes behind Coma. He currently sits in eight place in the overall standings, 45 minutes behind the leader.
