Kitchen tables hidden by unpaid bills, steel bars lock you out of your favorite establishment, and lines at the unemployment office lead out the door and down the street. We have all been witnesses to the ever worsening economy. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter, and American Suzuki is shining the way.
Suzuki has announced that they will commit to a larger racing effort in AMA. With sponsors like Rockstar Energy Drink and Makita tools, the outlook for racing in 2010 is positive. Suzuki’s Road Racing, Supercross, Motocross, and ATV teams will be managed by Yoshimura R&D of America. The prospect of growth is much needed good news at a time when the future of racing has been questionable to say the least.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki racing teams were victorious in six championships this year. Matt Mladin won his seventh AMA Superbike title on the GSX-R1000 Superbike in 2009. Suzuki dominated the Motocross, Supercross, ATV, and Road Racing championship series this year and they are committed to putting the GSX-Rs, RM-Zs, and QuadRacer on the podium in 2010.
Yoshimura R&D Senior Vice President Don Sakakura said, "Yoshimura will be managing Suzuki racing efforts in Supercross, Motocross, Road Racing, and ATV Racing. We hope to be able to showcase the performance of the Suzuki line of high-performance motorcycles and ATVs. Suzuki is proud of their products and is ready for the upcoming racing season. We at Yoshimura are equally looking forward to 2010."
Returning for Road Racing competition in 2010, Tommy Hayden and Blake Young will be riding the GSX-R1000 in the AMA Pro Superbike class. Also returning to the Suzuki racing team, Ryan Dungey will be competing in Supercross and Motocross along with Matt Moss on the RM-Z450. ATV Motocross champion Dustin Wimmer will be riding the QuadRacer R450 along side Josh Creamer in 2010.
