Stewart Wins Oakland Supercross

stewart_oaklandFour riders from four different manufacturers have won the first four races of the 2012 Supercross season. Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, and Chad Reed have all had their turn on top of the box and last night James Bubba Stewart returned to Supercross glory.

It was an emotional victory for Stewart as the Joe Gibbs Racing Team mourned the loss of mechanic Mark "Tex" Adams.

"I would like to dedicate this win to my mechanic, Mark 'Tex' Adams, who passed away this week," Stewart said. "I got in a rhythm out there tonight and put together a great race. I had a tough couple of races this year, and tonight I got it done."

Reed took the holeshot Stewart followed closely behind. The Two Two Motorsports rider was able to hold off Stewart for nine laps but Bubba eventually found his way to the front.

Reed was able to hold off the advances of Ryan Villopoto, who took the final spot on the podium.

Stewart's victory last night puts him into fourth place in the overall standings where he is now 12 points behind Reed and Dungey who are tied with 85 points. Defending champion Villopoto is just two points behind in third.
