Stewart Disappointed With Round 2 Results [Helmet Cam Video]

js7_phoenixJames Stewart hasn't been racing at the top of his game so far this season. The former Supercross champion took a 6th place finish during the season opener but couldn't better his results last weekend in Phoenix. Stewart finished a disappointing 8th during the second round of the 2012 Supercross season.

Stewart started off strong by winning the heat race but couldn't keep up his momentum during the main event.

Stewart had a bad start and was racing outside the top-15 at the end of lap one. Stewart slowly worked his way to the front but got tripped up in the sand on lap 7, dropping him from 6th back down to 15th. Stewart embarked on another comeback but was only able to climb to 8th place.

"It was a tough day all around," James said. "I'm really low on energy thanks to being sick, and I just couldn't get a start tonight to help out my cause. We still have a long ways to go, though, and I'm looking forward to getting the JGR/Toyota Yamaha on the box next weekend in LA."

Here's a look at Stewart's race in Phoenix.

The Supercross season is still young and Stewart has plenty of time to get back to the top of the points standings. Do you think James Stewart will be a championship contender this year?
