Dungey Finally Claims Victory

ama_supercrossThe 2010 Supercross season was filled with Ryan Dungey victories, but 2011 has not been as kind to the Rockstar Makita rider. Dungey claimed his first victory of the 2011 Supercross season last night in Toronto, placing himself in solid contention for the Supercross championship.

"Once I got out front I just concentrated on turning in clean laps," Dungey said. "That focus paid off. I knew all I had to do was keep turning in good laps and the rest would take care of itself."

Dungey's victory puts him within 8 points of the season leader, who, for the first time in a long time, is not Ryan Villopoto. Villopoto lost the championship lead last night with a ninth place finish. Instead, Chad Reed, who captured second place last night behind Dungey, is the new season leader with 236 points.

Rookie Trey Canard put in another great race to claim the final spot on the podium, while James Stewart finished in fourth.
