Stewart Ready to Race in Toronto

james_stewartAfter James Stewart's crash in Jacksonville, his participation in Toronto was questionable. Stewart was taken from the track in a stretcher, and updates about his condition were scarce. But Stewart just released a message today saying that he is pretty banged up, but he is ready to race this weekend in Toronto.

"I was definitely banged up pretty good in Jacksonville, but I'm feeling a lot better now and ready for Toronto," Stewart said. "At this point it's all about the Championship and every race counts. I want to thank my fans, my team and my sponsors for all of their support this week and every week of the series. It really means a lot to me."

Stewart's absence from the Jacksonville event dropped him down from 2nd place to 4th place in the 2011 Supercross season. Ryan Villopoto, the 2011 Supercross leader, also missed the Supercross event in Jacksonville, so Stewart didn't fall behind in terms of points.

In fact, Stewart gained on Villopoto last weekend. The AMA gave Stewart an 18th place finish in Jacksonville, netting him two-points. Three riders went down on the first lap and did not finish the race. The AMA looked at the qualifying times of those three riders to determine the final results. Since Stewart had the best time, he was given an 18th place finish and was given two points.
