Canard Captures Second Supercross Victory

James_Stewart_JacksonvilleEarlier this season, Trey Canard captured his first victory in the premier Supercross class. The young rider added another tally to the win column last night, capturing win number two in Jacksonville. Canard was joined on the podium by Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey.

Before the Jacksonville race got underway, Ryan Villopoto, the 2011 Supercross season leader, crashed hard in LCQ and was unable to qualify for the race. With Villopoto out, the door was open for James Stewart to crawl back within one point of the season leader.

But a crowded pack at the start of the race led to a collision that left James Stewart lying on the track. Stewart was transported off of the track on a stretcher.

With the two top riders out, the Jacksonville Supercross became a fight between Trey Canard, Ryan Dungey, and Chad Reed.

Reed and Canard would swap spots during the closing laps of the Jacksonville event, but in the end the young rookie was able to claim victory over the veteran.

"I really needed this win," Canard said. "I can't tell you how much this means to me. I got nervous at one point and looked over at the board and realized just how close it really was. I put on a fight and it really paid off tonight."
