Another mishap for James Stewart opened the door for another Ryan Villopoto win. Villopoto claimed his second consecutive Supercross win last night in Daytona, extending his lead to 23 points over Stewart.
A determined Stewart started the race off by capturing the hole shot and shooting ahead of the pack. Stewart would extend his lead to more than 7 seconds, but a mistake on lap 4 put Stewart in the dirt, and allowed the rest of the Supercross riders to pass him by.
Villopoto led the way, followed by Ryan Dungey, Chad Reed, and Davi Milsaps. Villopoto was able to gain a 9 second lead as Dungey and Reed fought for the final spot on the podium.
Villopoto's victory, and Stewart's ninth place finish, opens up the largest gap at the top that we've seen this season. Villopoto has 23 points of breathing room at the top, followed by a hotly contested second place spot. Stewart is just one point ahead of Reed, and 8 points ahead of Dungey.
