Kevin Windham will be racing this weekend in San Diego at the 7th round of the AMA Supercross. Windham's participation was questionable after he suffered a crash in Texas last week, which bruised his ribs and gave him a slight concussion. Despite his injuries, Windham says that he's ready to race at Qualcomm Stadium.
"I'm gonna need to nurse my injuries and just fight through it. I want to get back to the level I was in Houston as soon as I can," Windham said. "The life of a motocross rider involves dealing with injuries and at this point in the year there isn't anyone out there that isn't banged up somehow.
"When you have all the races in a row there just isn't adequate time to recover. We'll do the best we can."
It looked like Windham could take his first Supercross win of the 2011 season in Texas, but Windham crashed out of the lead, opening the door to a fantastic duel between Ryan Dungey and race winner Trey Canard.
"Fortunately nothing's broken," Windham continued. "I'm in a pretty good amount of pain in my ribs and there is definitely some cartilage popping when I move around, but it's a manageable pain and we'll be racing in San Diego."
Windham is currently in 10th place in the overall point standings.
