Honda racer Josh Grant will have to undergo surgery to repair his injured knee. Grant injured his knee at the second round of the 2011 AMA Supercross season in Phoenix. Grant is expected to return to racing in a few weeks.
Grant will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee later today.
“Obviously I’m bummed about getting hurt early in the season but I’m also pretty excited because early test results indicate that the injury appears to only be minor at this stage,” said Grant. “I’ve received tons of support from everyone at Honda and I should to back racing in no time.”
Honda expects Grant to make a full recovery, and they expect him to be back on a bike in just a few short weeks. Josh Grant scored a ninth place finish at the opening round of the 2011 AMA Supercross season for the Honda Racing team. The Supercross season enters round 7 of 17 this weekend in San Diego. Grant should be back to race the second half of the season.
“The team fully supports Josh’s decision to undergo surgery to repair his ACL,” said American Honda Racing Team Manager, Erik Kehoe. “Instead of trying to struggle along and continue racing at less than 100 percent capacity, he’s made a smart decision to have the corrective surgery done now so he can make a full return to racing later this year.”
