Vicki Golden is competing against some of the best talent in the AMA Arenacross West Coast Lites class. Her first outing in Round 2 that took place in Denver proved to be challenging and Vicki held her own in the qualifying and the LCQ, Last Chance Qualifier, heats. Even though she did not make the main event she has gotten her feet wet and the next round she may not be so easy on the rest of the riders. What makes Vicki Golden so unique in this class is she is the only female rider looking to put in a full schedule in the race series.
In an interview before the race she was asked why did she want to compete in the AMA Arenacross Series. Vicki responded “Supercross and arenacross is just something I like riding. I enjoy it a lot (actually). Plus, I’m going to be riding anyways since it’s the offseason right now (for motocross). The women’s class has a really long offseason so this is a great chance to keep me racing all year. Really, it’s just something I love doing so I figured I might as well go for it.”
When she was asked what her expectations were for the remainder of the Western Regional Championship she replied “I just hope to be competitive, really. I know I can be, so I just want to get in there. I think it’ll help me be more aggressive for racing next season than simply riding alone, so I think that’ll be a big plus as well. Ultimately I just want to get as many points as I can.”
With this type of winning attitude we can expect to see Vicki Golden qualifying for the Main event in the very near future. On her Facebook page Vicki posted “Racing was awesome, went to the LCQ and missed the main by one spot again. Did a little bar banding for 3rd. Thank you Arenacross and everyone here for all the support. RENO!" We look forward to the next race and expect to see Vicki Golden in the Main Event.
