At the start of the Supercross Lite event in Salt Lake City, Jake Weimer knew that he needed a 15th place finish or better to claim the title. The track had been pummeled by rain, hail, and snow, so Weimer decided to go for the title, and not the race win. “The only way to describe it (winning the championship) is a dream come true. It’s what I dreamed about since I was a little kid. I’m ecstatic,” said Weimer. “This is what I wanted; I’m happy”
Weimer cruised into a fifth place finish behind Ryan Morais.
At the front of the pack was Josh Hansen, who finished more than 15 seconds ahead of second place rider Trey Canard.
Wil Hahn slides into second place in the overall standings with a third place finish behind Canard.
“It was a really hard track tonight with all the rain and it being cold. I separated my shoulder two days ago; it was definitely the hardest race of my career,” said Hahn. “I’m so stoked to be third, and to be second overall in points.”
