Dungey Clinches Title - Windham Gets the Win Hot

supercross_seattleKevin Windham took the AMA Supercross win in Seattle over a muddy, rut-filled course. Windham crossed the line 22.7 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, and claims his first victory since 2008.

"A track like that just brings you back to your roots when you had no experience and you had to just put your feet down and get through it. It was definitely survival. There were so many ruts that were hard to finish," said Windham, a 17 year veteran.

But as Windham, the oldest current AMA Supercross rider, 32, crossed the finish line in first place at Seattle, rookie Ryan Dungey was cruising to a fourth place finish to clinch his first  Supercross title.

Dungey is only the second rookie in AMA Supercross history to win the title. The last rookie to win the championship was Jeremy McGrath in 1993.

Dungey now has 320 points with two events left in the Supercross season, and with Ryan Villopoto sidelined with a broken leg, no one will be able to catch him.

“It's been an awesome season,” said Dungey. “It's something else when you're watching on TV as a little kid and hoping to be up here. It was all hard work that went into this. I'm super pumped. I just tried to take it easy in the main and stay upright."
