Dungey’s last win on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki came at round 11 in Dallas, but the Belle Plaine, Minn., native maintained his lead with a second-finish at Jacksonville and fifth at Houston.
With only a 12-point lead and four rounds remaing, Dungey needs to score a win this weekend if he wants to stay ahead of Villopoto of Poulsbo,
Although he has no shot at the title, Villopoto’s teammate Chad Reed returned last week at Reliant Stadium, the two-teim AMA SX Champion finishing fourth. His biggest rival, defending champion James Stewart, is still out of action, and nothing official has been released on his return.
