For the third and final time of the 2010 season, Monster Energy AMA Supercross will be held at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., this weekend.
But besides the usual intensity of the series, Feld Motor Sports, which provides the venues for AMA Supercross, and Angels Baseball are teaming up at Anaheim III in support of finding a cure for breast cancer. This first-ever PINK Supercross race will help fund the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure 60-mile walk.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Ryan Dungey goes into Anaheim III with a four-point lead. Dungey, who won at Anaheim II and Phoenix, finished in sixth last weekend at San Diego after colliding with Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Ryan Villopoto in the first turn.
Honda Red Bull Racing rider Davi Millsaps took his first win in San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, becoming the fourth different rider to win this season.
“I came out on top,” Millsaps said after his winning his third-career AMA Supercross race. “American Honda is the best crew in world. The tack was slick. You had to just be smooth, consistent and make no mistakes and that’s what I did. It was such an amazing race and I can’t explain how good it feels.”
Millsaps' win bumped him up to fourth place in the point standings, behind Villopoto in third and San Manuel Yamaha rider Josh Hill in second. Hill finished second last week, with Valli Motorsports Yamaha rider Ivan Tedesco trailing in third.
Hill’s teammate, defending champion James Stewart, and Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Chad Reed are not expected to race due to their injuries. Both riders were involved in “the crash heard ‘round the world” during round 2 in Phoenix.
During last year’s Anaheim III race, Stewart grabbed his fifth win of the season.
The Supercross action will be aired at on CBS Sports at noon (EST) on Sunday, Feb. 14. The AMA Supercross Lites class will be on SPEED at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14.
