Joe Gibbs Racing/Yamaha rider Josh Grant was injured after a crash while practicing at a private facility near Temecula, Calif., Tuesday, his publicist says.
The AMA Supercross rider broke his nose and received various bruises after he was thrown from his bike into an embankment while negotiating a difficult whoop section.
"I landed pretty hard, broke my nose, and while I’m still pretty sore, I am feeling better today," Grant said. "I will be seeing my doctor and taking it day by day this week. You all know I love racing in Anaheim, so I am hoping to be cleared to line up for the race on Saturday."
Grant’s condition will be evaluated by his doctor, and the Number 33 rider hopes to compete at Angel Stadium Saturday, Jan. 9, in Anaheim, Calif., for the opening round of the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship.
Grant was last year’s round 1 winner at Anaheim, and has raced while recovering from injuries in the past.
The opening round of the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship will air live on SPEED at 10 p.m. (EST).
