The Unadilla Retro Motocross National has been a stop on the AMA tour for 40 years. Located in New Berlin, New York, as a celebration of 40 years of motocross at the track fans are encouraged to wear retro clothing from their favorite motocross era. The action for Unadilla, Round 9 of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, will begin this Saturday.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Chad Reed leads the 450 championship standings and his teammate Ryan Dungey and Christophe Pourcel, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, share the top spot in the 250 class. Coming into the action at Unadilla with three wins under his belt, Reed looks to keep his momentum.
Honda Red Bull Racing rider Andrew Short moved up to second place after Josh Grant suffered injuries at X Games 15. Short sits 70 points behind the leader; he's got a long hard journey ahead of him if he plans on being the 2009 AMA Pro Motocross Champion.
In 2008 at Unadilla James Steward rode to victory in both 450 class races, going on to win the championship.
