Round 8 of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship will be stopping at the “Gateway to the Gorge”, Washougal, Washington, this weekend July 24 and 25. A stop on the circuit for the past 28 years, Washougal MX Park is a favorite for riders and fans alike, because of its drastic elevation changes and high speeds, not to mention unrivaled vantage points. Washougal is also home to the infamous Horsepower Hill.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Chad Reed and teammate Ryan Dungey bring the momentum from first place finishes last weekend into this Saturday's race. Ivan Tedesco, of Honda Red Bull Racing, and Josh Grant, of JGRMX Toyota Yamaha, are two riders to keep an eye on this weekend in the 450 Class. The 250 Class riders with podium finishes last weekend are Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Christophe Pourcel and Geico Powersports Honda rider Justin Barcia. Washington native, Ricky Dietrich will be looking to impress a home-town crowd this weekend as he continues to race in place of Ryan Villopoto.
Championship points leaders coming into the Washougal race are Chad Reed with 287 points, Andrew Short with 250 points, and Ivan Tedesco with 238 points.
