Georgia Teen Dies in Motorcycle Race

daniel_reynoldsA 17-year-old senior at Chattooga High School was killed Saturday during a motocross race in Alabama when he slammed into a wall. Rainsville police Chief Charles Centers called the incident a "freak accident."

Daniel Reynolds, a 17-year-old racer from Georgia, was attempting to land a jump during a pre-qualifying race at the Tri-State Arenacross event. According to the Times Free Press, Reynolds lost control of his motorcycle and slid on his front wheel into a wall.

Ken Reynolds, Daniel's father, said that his son had been racing for a little over a year. Ken said that he decided not to buy his son a dirt bike, but Daniel saved money from working Summer jobs and bought his own motorcycle.

Ken said: "He went doing what he loved doing."

Tri-State Arenacross officials have canceled all races until further notice.
