I've got some bad news for American Motocross fans. The rumors about Antonio Cairoli heading to the AMA Motocross series are false. The KTM rider has just renewed his contract and will race in the FIM MX1 series again in 2012.
From a release from MX1 Media:
"Antonio Cairoli has signed a contract with KTM to race the FIM Motocross World Championship next year and for the future."
Cairoli is on his way to his fifth Grand Prix championship as he currently leads the MX1 series with 554 points, 82 more than Steven Frossard. There are two rounds left in the 2012 MX1 season. The series now heads to Gaildorf in Europe for the penultimate round on Sept. 4.
