Ryan Dungey is currently trying to win back to back AMA Motocross titles, and after the 2011 season wraps up, Dungey will travel to France to help the US team win its second consecutive Motocross of Nations Championship.
Dungey currently trails in the 2011 AMA Motocross standings by just 7 points behind Ryan Villopoto.
"It's been a good year," Dungey said. "The outdoor season has had its ups and downs, but we're sitting here just seven points out of first place in the championship points with six races and a lot of laps left.
"We started out strong and consistent, but it took a few races to grab our first overall. The top guys are running a real fast pace and you really have to put your head down and fight for position. Fortunately, my Yoshimura equipped Suzuki RM-Z450 has been running great and has helped me stay out front. My team and I have our heads down and are looking forward and keeping focused, as we want to bring home that number one plate."
Number one plate or not, Dungey has proven himself as one of the best dirt riders in the country. For the second year in a row, Dungey was selected to represent the United States at the Motocross of Nations.
"I just found out last week that I was picked for the 2011 US Motocross des Nations team," Dungey said. "It's quite an honor to be selected again and I plan do everything I can to help bring home that trophy again this year.
"My experiences at des Nations have been unbelievable and will always be cherished for life. I'm really looking forward to this year's event and racing with my team mates Ryan (Villopoto) and Blake (Baggett) and working with Roger DeCoster."
