Honda Aiming for Podium at Loket [Video]

goncalves_loketRui Goncalves and Evgeny Bobryshev will be looking to put Honda back on the podium this weekend as the MX1 World Championship heads to the Czech Republic for the 12th round of the season this weekend at Loket.

Goncalves narrowly missed out on his first podium of the year last weekend at the sandy circuit of Lommel. Goncalves was in position to take third, but a mechanical error on the final lap kept him off the box.

"Loket is one of the original tracks which has been there for a long time and comes with a lot of motocross history," Goncalves said. "It is always a special atmosphere there; the fans can get right up close and they have really strong support. It is really fast and therefore it is important to get a good start as if you have clear track in front you can clear off quickly."

Bobryshev, who currently sits in fourth in the overall standings, had two strong rides at Lommel and missed the podium by just one place due to a poor start in MX1. Bobryshev will be looking to rectify that problem with two good starts at Loket, which according to Bobryshev, is half the battle.

"Loket I don't really like to be honest. It is very slippy so you cannot push so hard with your speed, you need to ride smart and be careful because there are may small stones and this can affect the grip levels," Bobryshev said. "Being on the Dunlop tyres this year should help because we have really got those tyres working well for us right now. The start is of course really important there particularly. If you get a good start then half the race is done."

Here's a preview from the Honda Team.
