Chad Reed extended his lead over the weekend with his 4th overall win of the 2011 Motocross Season. Reed had a 1-3 finish at the RedBud National, extending his championship lead to 16 points over Ryan Villopoto.
Reed was not satisfied with his performance at Thunder Valley, but was able to learn from his mistakes to capture another MX win at RedBud.
"We lost our way last weekend so we came into this round knowing we had to experiment a little bit," Reed said. "This track is similar to Thunder Valley so it gave us a good opportunity to go back and see where we went wrong.
"In the first moto the bike was really good but I don't think I could say I was 100% even thought it was good enough for the win. I got a good start the second race and got into third. Dungey made some mistakes and I tried to get by, but then I made mistakes and Alessi passed me. At that point I knew I had to just settle down and be smart.
"Each time I went out on the track today, it was different. I learned a lot about my bike, and a lot about myself as a person and the decisions I need to make on race days."
Reed has won half of the MX races this year and has won 4 of the 6 MX events.
Dungey took two second place finishes to take second overall at RedBud. Ryan Villopoto had a disappointing ninth place finish in the first moto, but was able to make up some points by taking the second moto win.
