It looks like Christophe Pourcel and MotoConcepts have parted ways. The only information right now is coming from Twitter and Facebook, but the rumor is that Pourcel left the MotoConcepts team because he was unhappy with his bike.
MotoConcepts sent out this tweet earlier today.
"PulpMXShow: Mike Genova just informed us that Christophe Pourcel is no longer on Team MotoConcepts".
Team boss Mike Genova was on the Pulp MX show on Monday and talked about the Pourcel situation. Apparently the MotoConcepts team asked Pourcel to come to California to work on the bike, but CP refused. Pourcel was also a no show at the High Point event. (You can listen to the show here. The portion about Pourcel starts around 1 hour and 37 minute mark.)
Genova said during the interview:
"Yes, I have terminated my agreement with Christophe. He left us with no option... If you have a guy that you employ, you expect him to come to work. For whatever reason, Christophe decided not to come to work. So what else can we do?"
A few days ago, Genova put a post on the VitalMX website. (You can read the full post at VitalMX)
Genova said:
“As we all saw CP rode the Yamaha fast, but for whatever reason he was unable to maintain the pace needed. After Freestone CP chose to go to Florida even though he was directed to come to California to work with us....
“Unfortunately CP refused to communicate with his intentions and never came to California. As we waited for an acknowledgement from CP that he was going to come out, almost a week of two week break had passed, and so we made the decision to ship his practice bike {the bike that he and us wanted to make better} out to Florida. Through all of this CP was completely out of communication {his choice} with the team other than some vague texts to me....
“Because of our total unsureness of CP's intentions for Highpoint, we were forced to completely operate in a "business as usual" mode, having his race bike ready to go with his mechanic there ready to rock.”
But Parcell never showed up.
Now it looks like the two have officially parted ways. No word from Pourcel yet, so we only really have one side of the story. But whatever the viewpoint, Pourcel and MotoConcepts will not be racing together for the rest of the 2011 MX season.
