Reed Ready for High Point, Aiming For Third Consecutive Win

chad_reed_profile_picSo far this season there has only been one man at the top of the podium. Chad Reed won the two opening events of the 2011 Motocross season, and he’s aiming for his third victory this weekend.

"We haven't dropped our guard at all despite the lead,” said Reed. “It's important to stay focused and keep testing and training especially with a week off. It's been a really positive start for the team. A few things fell my way at the last round and I know wins will be harder to come by as these guys step things up again.”

Reed has won every event so far this season, but he hasn’t always been in the lead during the motos. Ryan Dungey had a 25-second lead at Freestone before a mechanical error put him on the sidelines.

“We have a lot of racing left,” Dungey said. “It's a great track [High Point]; it's got some hills and elevation and the dirt's awesome there. It's a fun track and I was able to get a win there last year, so I'm really looking forward to it."

Reed has a 21 point lead in the championship so far ahead of the 2011 Supercross champion Ryan Villopoto. RV has been on the podium at both events so far, but he hasn’t been able to find his way around Reed. Villopoto hasn’t raced outdoors since 2009, so it may just be a matter of time before he finds his speed in the outdoors.
