Honda World Motocross Ready for Round 2 of MX1 Championship [Video]

honda_racingThe Honda World Motocross team got the 2011 MX1 World Championship season off to a good start during the opening round in Bulgaria, but neither Rui Gonçalves or Evgeny Bobryshev were satisfied with their final positions. Goncalves and Bobryshev are looking for the podium this weekend during the second MX1 GP in the Netherlands.

This will be a home GP for Bobryshev, who lives just a few minutes from the track.

“Valkenswaard is my kind of track, I really like it there and had good results last year even though I was not really that fit,” Bobryshev said. “My conditioning is a lot better now than it was at this stage last season. I have been training a lot in the sand, doing lots of simulation motos and even doing hour-long endurance runs as part of my preparation. It is also a really convenient GP for me as I live only 5 mins away from the track. This helps me over the race weekend; simple things like spending the night in my own bed.”

Goncalves won at Valkenswaard in 2009 when he was racing in the MX2 class, but an injury last year hindered him from achieving top results.

“I have good memories of Valkenswaard from my victory there in 2009 in the MX2 class,” Goncalves said. “I really like the layout and the soil of the track and feel comfortable in conditions like these. Last year it was the first GP I rode after coming back from my shoulder injury so this year my objectives are very different as I can tackle it fully fit. The top 10 in MX1 is so competitive at the moment, so you really need to be on your game to be in the fight for the podium positions but this is my aim for the weekend.”

Here is a video preview of the Netherland’s GP from the Honda World Motocross team.
