Dungey Caps MX Season with a Perfect Performance at Pala

ama-motocrossRyan Dungey had already clinched the AMA Motocross championship heading into tonight's event at the Pala Raceway, but the young rookie wanted to end his season with a bang. Dungey took both moto wins tonight, capping a phenomenal 2010 Motocross season.

Andrew Short was unable to close the gap between himself and Brett Metcalfe, and will end the Motocross season in third, falling five points shy of second place. Metcalfe got the best of Short in the first Moto, claiming a second place finish behind Dungey. Their positions were reversed in the second Moto.

The real drama of the night came in the 250 class, as Trey Canard and Christophe Pourcel stepped onto the track with just 7 points between them. Pourcel had led for nearly the entire season, but Canard has slowly been eating away at his lead, making tonight a winner take all race for the championship.

The high drama leading up to the race was quieted when Pourcel took a spill on the track, and earned a horribly timed DNF. Pourcel dislocated his shoulder, and had to watch as Canard took an easy lap around the Pala Raceway track to steal the 250 championship.

AMA Motocross - Final Standings

Ryan Dungey - 545

Brett Metcalfe - 398

Andrew Short - 393

Ben Townley- 324
