If you are going to build a new track, why not look for advice from your top riders? Red Bull has just announced plans for Metallicross, which will be designed by Travis Pastrana, James Stewart, Ronnie Renner, David Knight, and Geoff Aaron. The Metallicross track will combine elements of Supercross, Motocross, Endurocross, Freestyle, and Trials, and the event will be held at Pala Raceway on Saturday, October 23rd.
Each rider will design a different portion of the track, resulting in an extreme mash-up of anything and everything these riders have ever dreamed of.
"I have always had some pretty crazy thoughts about obstacles and elements to a track. Now with this special event it gives me the blank canvas I need to put these crazy elements together. You can look forward to some wild stuff that will take each athlete's absolute best to navigate and survive," Stewart said in a press release.
The track will be open to amateurs and pros alike, but it will not cater to the beginner crowd. Some features of the Metallicross track have been leaked, and it is said to feature a two story drop into the first turn, stair sets made of railroad ties, and of course, explosions and fire.
If that isn't extreme enough for you, the event will feature live performances from metal bands throughout the day.
“Metallicross is going to be the raddest event ever. I'm pumped to be a part of something so revolutionary to the sport,” said Renner. “We have a chance to help design our own real life video game…this event is going to be all-time!”
