Tonight will mark the beginning of the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Motocross championship. The Motocross season will kick off tonight with the Rockstar Energy Hangtown Classic in Rancho Cordova, California. Many Supercross riders will be participating in the outdoor season, including returning champion Chad Reed. Reed sat out most of the Supercross season due to injury, and will now have to battle through the rain, mud, humidity, and heat that the Motocross season is sure to bring.
Reed may be the returning Motocross champion, but he will also be going up against this years Supercross champ, Ryan Dungey. The rookie had an outstanding season and will be one of the top contenders to unseat Reed.
"The Supercross championship was obviously a huge step," says Dungey. "But at the same time, it's where I pictured myself. I always want to be winning. I don't put out all this effort to get second."
