Your last chance to see Mat Mladin race at VIR
Press Release

Mat Mladin, the six-time American Superbike champion and winner of 82 Superbike races, including ten so far in 2009, has announced that he plans to retire following the end of the 2009 season.
In an open letter and press release, Mladin stated: "After so many great years of racing in the USA, I will retire from AMA racing at the end of the 2009 racing season in New Jersey.
"My career has been long and above and beyond my wildest expectations. I won my first national championship on dirt bikes back in 1981 (28 years ago) and have had an amazing career ever since."
He continued, thanking his crew, fans and most of all, according to his letter, his family, from his parents for starting him down the track to his career, to his wife and daughters.
"If I had my time again, I would not change a single decision I have made, in life or in racing."
"Mladin's record at VIR is incredible," said VIR track general manager Josh Lief. "He swept every American Superbike race at VIR for three years and only had his string broken last year when an unapproved part showed up in post-race inspection. That does nothing to lessen his accomplishments, especially in light of the outstanding year he is having in 2009."
Take advantage of the final appearance of Mladin at VIR in the Suzuki Big Kahuna presented by Dunlop Tires and Makita, August 14-16. Tickets are available at amabigkahuna.com or by calling (303) 377-3278.
