The final day of the Big M Weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah was packed with world-class racing. In the AMA SuperBike class, Josh Hayes let spectators know why he’s the two-time defending champ by taking home his fourth win of the season. Meanwhile, in the XR1200 class, Tyler O’Hara added another win to his 2012 record.

Josh Hayes (Yamaha) separated himself from the pack early on and headed straight into first place without any significant pressure from behind. The real battle of the race took place down the line, as Josh Herrin (Yamaha) and Blake Young (Suzuki) duked it out for second.
Earlier the race, Young and Herrin were joined by Roger Hayden (Suzuki), who overtook Herrin at one point, but crashed out before too long. As Herrin honed in on Young, Ben Bostrum (Suzuki) came up from behind to make his own bid for second.
Halfway through the race, Geoff May (EBR) began working his way up to this trio of riders, eventually putting Bostrum behind him in the final laps. The most dramatic turn of events occurred in the final lap when Herrin passed Young on the outside to steal the runner-up position right out from under the Suzuki rider. It was a bold move by Herrin, who later commented on this risky move.
"It was pretty sketchy because it was dusty out on the edge of the track but luckily it stuck," said Herrin. "I was able to hold him off the rest of the lap. Hopefully we can be a contender for a win later on in the season but for now I'm ecstatic getting second."
With his win at Miller, Hayes moves back up to the top of the overall standings. Young has been bumped back down to second, as Hayden remains in third despite his crash.
Vance & Hines XR1200 Results
The XR1200 class was dominated by Tyler O’Hara on his Bartel’s Harley Davidson. A determined O’Hara struck out on his own early in the race, and continued to widen the gap between himself and the pack throughout the remaining laps.
Kyle Wyman (KLR Group) found his groove in second, while O’Hara’s teammate Michael Barnes fell into third a few seconds behind Wyman. Fourth place, held down by Michael Carbino (XP Motorsports) was likewise a lonely position.
The only real competition was between Gerry Signorelli (Kurakyn), David Estok (Ruthless), and Darren James (Ruthless). These three battled for fifth early on, but by the end of the race, they had spread out with about a second between each rider as they crossed the finish line in the above order.
O’Hara currently mans the top of the standings with 115 points. After him, Wyman is placed ahead of Barnes in second by just one point.
