Mat Mladin said in his interview after qualifying that “this could be the easiest championship he has ever won”…his Suzuki Makita GSX-R 1000 is on pole with a 1.24.592 fastest lap recorded on lap 15.
Second was Blake Young, from the same dominating Suzuki team. I overheard Young asking one of his crew before Mat arrived, “How much is Mat beating me by?” Young’s crew member said half-a-second, to which his response wasn’t for the faint of hearted. Young’s fastest lap was 1.24.936 on lap 10.

Tommy Haden came in third with a 1.25.075 and the last place on the front row was Larry Pegram on the Ducati 1098R with 1.25.199.
That means tomorrows front row has all three Suzuki’s on it for the AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike race.
Asked about his ride, Larry complained that he was never able to get a clear track; he kept being held up by slower riders, also giving the impression that the 30 minutes allotted for qualifying wasn’t enough time.
The action is intense…
