Blake Young and Cory West may not have won their respected championships, but both riders put in stellar performances during the 2011 AMA Superbike and Daytona Sportbike seasons. Young and West were both honored with the Sunoco "Go the Distance" award for covering the most distance on their motorcycles during the 2011 racing season.
According to Sunoco, Young covered 708.738 miles aboard his Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000 this season to come in second place in the overall standings behind repeating champion Josh Hayes. Young won the final race of the season, but it wasn't enough for the overall championship.
Still, Young was very happy with his 2011 season and honored to accept the Sunoco award.
West put in even more miles than Young during the 2011 season. West racked up 840.99 miles on his Vesrah Suzuki GSX-R600. West never finished out of the points this season and earned a fifth place overall at the end of the year.
Both Young and West were awarded checks for $5000 at the end of the season.
