Hayes Takes Pole, Young Misses Front Row

Hayes_NJMPWith just four points between Josh Hayes and Blake Young in the AMA Superbike standings, every point counts. And Yamaha rider Josh Hayes claimed another bonus point today by capturing his pole position of the season.

Hayes will be joined on the front row by Tommy Hayden and the Michael Jordan Motorsports duo of Ben Bostrom and Roger Hayden.

"I'm glad to be back up at the front," Bostrom said. "It's good to see the Jordan Suzukis up here. It's been a while since we've taken a race win."

Hayes entered the weekend five points behind Young, but now only trails by four. But more important than the pole point, Hayes will be starting on the pole position, while Young is stuck in 7th on the second row.

"He's started on the second row before," Hayes said. "And he's won. I'm just going out there and riding my normal race. It's up to him if he wants to win this championship. He's got a lot of pressure on him right now."

Larry Pegram will start the second row. The BMW rider will be followed by Steve Rapp, Young, and Chris Fillmore.
