James Rispoli was the fastest AMA Supersport rider at New Jersey Motorsports Park today, claiming the pole position with a 1:24.750 lap. Rispoli beat out Garrett Gerloff, who was the fastest during day 1, and Corey Alexander to take the top spot on the grid.
Rispoli's pole position will give him the prime spot during this afternoon's race, but the ANT Racing Rider also earned valuable championship points during the second qualifying. The qualifying session at NJMP will be scored as a race, (since the VIR round was cancelled) giving Rispoli his first win of the weekend.
"The session went pretty well," Rispoli said. "We just came into this like ever other weekend. We want to get the pole and set ourselves up for the race. I think we have a pretty good point gap right now and I hope we can wrap this thing up today."
Rispoli was .36 seconds faster than Gerloff and .39 seconds faster than Alexander. Dustin Dominguez, who finished the session in fourth, was nearly two seconds behind the pace setter.
