Harleys Debut at Indy With First Testing Session

Harley Indy TestDozens of Harley XR1200s rolled out into the Brickyard for the first time yesterday during a testing session before the Indy GP. The Harley XR1200 series will race for the first time at the historic next weekend alongside the MotoGP and Moto2 series.

18 Harley Davidson Motorcycles rode onto the track for the testing session. XR1200 points leader Chris Filmore was able to take the top spot at the end of the day, despite constant problems throughout the session.

"It was kind of limited this afternoon," said Fillmore. "We went out to try to diagnose a problem with the bike -- just a funky noise I'm hearing that I don't want to hear. I don't think I did more then ten laps in the second session, but I'm nursing a sore shoulder so it was kind of good that we didn't do so many laps. I really want to tie up this championship, and if we can get a win or two here, we'll be solid for New Jersey."

Steve Rapp and Michael Barnes, who are also contenders for the title in the XR1200 series, both posted times in the top five.

"I've never been here before," Rapp said. "The track is really cool. We had a good day. We're working on getting more traction like everybody else. It's going to change when we come back for the race, but we're doing the best we can for now."

The XR1200s will hit the track again for their second testing session.
