Heading into the 6th round of the AMA Superbike season at Mid-Ohio, just two points separated leader Josh Hayes from his rival Blake Young. Young would erase one of those points during the qualifying sessions with his first pole position of the year.
The first Superbike race of the weekend was a typical affair for Young and Hayes, as they lead the Superbike riders around the Ohio circuit. Young would be able to get the best of Hayes to take his 6th win of the season and the points lead.
In race two, Hayes looked to even the score. But his initial speed around the Ohio track left Hayes with little to finish the race. Hayes dropped back to a rare fourth position, while Young battled with teammate Tommy Hayden for the win. Hayden captured his second win of the season, and inched a little closer to the top of the pack.
