Jake Holden only made it a quarter lap during the Daytona Sportbike race at Laguna Seca before his weekend took a turn for the worst. Holden suffered a big crash during the opening of the DSB race and suffered a few broken ribs.
Holden was riding in the middle of the large Daytona Sportbike pack when he lost control of his Ducati. Holden slid to the side of the track and right in front of Paul Allison. With no where to go, Allison struck Holden in the side.
The Daytona Sportbike race was red-flagged while medical assistance rushed to Holden's aide. Holden was able to relieve a little tension in the crowd when he gave a thumbs up as he was put on a stretcher and carted into the ambulance.
Holden was taken to the infield medical center where it was confirmed that he had broken ribs.
The good news is that Holden has more than a month to recover before the final race of the season in New Jersey.
