Josh Herrin took the provisional pole position today at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Herrin beat out Jason DiSalvo, Cameron Beaubier, and Danny Eslick to take the top spot during the first qualifying session for the Daytona Sportbike riders.
Herrin set a 1'28.650 lap time around the Laguna Seca circuit in damp and foggy conditions.
DiSalvo lead for the majority of the first qualifying session, but Herrin put in a series of quick laps toward the end of Q1 to beat the Ducati rider by .41 seconds. Beaubier was another .2 seconds back while Danny Eslick was more than a second off of Herrin's pace in 4th.
Eslick currently leads the series by 15 points over Herrin.
