With just three events left this season, the AMA Supersport riders are running out of chances to rack up points. James Rispoli currently leads the East division of the series, as well as the Young Gun competition, while David Gaviria leads the points standings in the West.
Rispoli has scored a victory and four podium finishes so far this season to give himself a 38 point lead over Tomas Puerta in the East. Rispoli also leads the Young Gun's competition, which is for riders between the ages of 16 and 21.
David Gaviria has a slightly smaller lead in the West division. Gaviria has earned 154 points this season to put himself 21 points ahead of Benny Solis in the West. Gaviria also leads the overall points standings over Rispoli by 9 points.
The Motorcycle-Superstore.com AMA Supersport series has seen 8 riders claim victory this season, making the competition extremely fierce at every race. Rispoli, Puerta, Gaviria, and Solis have been the most consistent riders this season, but any number of riders could step on the box at the end of every race.
The Supersport riders are all vying for four big payouts at the end of the season. The top three riders in each division will get a piece of the $25,000 Motorcycle-Superstore.com Year-End Points Fund. The overall winner will also get a separate payout, as well as the winner of the Young Gun competition.
