Danny Eslick took his second win of the 2011 racing season today at Mid-Ohio during a thrilling Daytona Sportbike race. Eslick was joined on the podium by Tommy Aquino and Cameron Beaubier.
"It was an awesome race," Eslick said. "To pull out another win here, it's awesome. I really like Ohio. I did my first double here a couple of years ago, and I just love coming here to race."
Eslick lead for the majority of the Daytona Sportbike race, but Josh Herrin was always close behind. Herrin made a couple of passes, and nearly took the race win at the end of the DSB race. But a small mistake on Herrin's part opened the door for a flood of riders to dart across the checkered line.
Herrin would drop from second to fifth in less than a second as Tommy Aquino, Cameron Beaubier, and Dane Westby shot by at the end of the Daytona Sportbike race.
"It was an awesome race," said Beaubier, who took third. "Josh made a mistake at the end and I was able to get to the outside of him. It's a great feeling."
Tommy Aquino earned a career best second place today at Mid-Ohio.
"Second is the best of my career," Aquino said. "I've got a bunch of thirds, and thousands of fourths, so it feels extremely good to be up here right now."
Dane Westby took the fourth place spot just .002 seconds ahead of Herrin.
