Fillmore Wins XR1200 Race at Mid-Ohio

Fillmore_Keyhole_3Chris Fillmore took an easy victory at Mid-Ohio today, beating out Michael Beck and Kyle Wyman. Fillmore, who started from the pole position, won the XR1200 race today by more than 6 seconds.

"I just kept my head down and kept on charging," Fillmore said. "With about three laps left, I took a look over my shoulder but no one was there. So I just put it into cruise control for the rest of the race."

Fillmore ran away with the victory today, but three other riders battled throughout the race for the remaining two spots on the podium.

Steve Rapp looked like he was a sure thing for the podium, but halfway through the race Rapp started to fall off the pace.

Kyle Wyman and Michael Beck were right there to capitalize on Rapp's mistake. Beck was able to take the second place spot, while Yman and Rapp would battle until the finish line for third.

"When I saw the white flag I knew I had to make a move quick," Wyman said. "I just pushed as hard as I could in that second segment. I was able to get a run on the outside on the last corner, and I was able to get third by maybe 6 inches."

Rapp would take fourth place behind Wyman by .03 seconds. Tyler OHara would complete the top five.
